The bloop
The bloop is an underwater sound of ultra-low frequency heard several times during the summer of 1997, and never identified. What makes it interesting is that it's origin lies at the point nemo in the Pacific ocean, the fartest point from emerged land on Earth.
What makes it even more interesting is that it is almost the exact same point (latitude, longitude) which Lovecraft cited as the home of Cthulhu (in "The call of Cthulhu") and the ruins of the fictional city of R'lyeh.
